Imphal, June 16 2015 :
Contrary to the earlier claims of having the capability to form councils in a few ADCs, BJP has decided to sit on the Opposition bench in all the six ADCs.
A joint meeting of the newly elected BJP ADC Members and leaders of hill districts was held today at the office of BJP Manipur Pradesh with its president Th Chaoba in the chair.
The meeting decided that all elected ADC Members of the State would sit on the Opposition bench in all the six ADCs.
Briefing media persons after the meeting, Chaoba ruled out alliance with any other party in order to form councils.
Elected Members of the party would take full responsibility of being Opposition Members strictly in accordance with the party's ideology and principle.
Failure to publish list of elected Members in the State gazette although it has been almost a week since the election results were declared is an indication of the complete absence of governance, Chaoba asserted.
He went on to ask if the list of elected Members has not been published deliberately with a motive to commit misdeeds and manipulate records.
Categorically stating that the Government cannot have a free run, he urged the Government to publish the list of elected Members and take up necessary measures so that all the elected Members can be sworn without undue delay.
BJP's victory in 21 ADC seats is a clear testimony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's growing popularity in the hill districts of Manipur.
The people's mandate is clear in Ukhrul and Sadar Hills with NPF and Congress poised to form councils in the two respective ADCs.
Chaoba then questioned if the Congress party has been scheming to form councils in other ADCs by offering huge money.
BJP State core committee member Prof S Tiken claimed that the victory of 21 BJP candidates is a landmark achievement for the party.
As for the defeat of other BJP candidates, Prof Tiken blamed the Congress Government's failure to maintain law and order, use of Government machinery by Congress party, rampant malpractices during the election and direct involvement of UG groups.
