Imphal, October 15:
For the parliamentary elections scheduled for 2009, the BJP State unit has initiated preparatory works to strengthen the party so that it can successfully contest the elections.
As a part of the programme launched to organise party supporters in all the polling stations of every State of India, the BJP State unit has initiated complementary steps to strengthen party position in all the polling stations of Manipur, informed party general secretary Prof S Tiken.
The programme covering all the 40 Assembly constituencies of the valley districts has so far completed 75 percent of organisational work.
However, the programme is still confined to district headquarters in hill districts while polling stations in interior areas cannot be reached yet, he said.
Coordinator of this poll preparatory works for Nagaland and Manipur Avinash Kohli left Imphal today after a three day visit to Manipur.
Meanwhile it is reported that there has been pressure from prospective candidates intending to contest in both the inner and outer parliamentary constituencies.
