Shillong as a 'transit point' for arms and extortion deal of the Northeast insurgent groups became more pronounced with the arrest of eight Dima Halam Daoga (DHD) cadres and three other "suspected" Manipur based insurgents on Sunday, according to the Meghalaya police.
A Manipur police team is expected to arrive in the Meghalaya capital latest by Tuesday,added the Meghalaya police source.The Manipur based "suspected militants" were arrested from a hotel in Shillong.
Eight DHD militants including the area commander of Umranshu, North Cachar Hills district, identified a David Kamthai were arrested by the Meghalaya Police.
All of them separately were booked under the unlawful activities preventive act (UAPA).
Based on the Police prayers, the court remanded to seven days of police custody today.
