The United Socialist Revolutionary Army today celebrated its third anniversary at a secluded place somewhere in Churachandpur with a grand celebration attended by various civil organizations, church leaders and a dozen village chiefs.
Attended by hundreds of civilians and its armed counterparts under KNO, the celebration witnessed armed tributes being paid to six of its slain cadres and a keynote address from its commander-in-chief, Lalminthang Vaiphei.
In his speech, the commander said though initially the organization has allied with the UNLF, diversity in culture and tradition besides religion has forced them to opt for the KNO as its partner.
USRA was set up solely to safeguard the interest of the suppressed tribe from being exploited and accordingly he along with his comrades won't hesitate to sacrifice their blood for doing the same, he said.
Acknowledging the sacrifice of his slain comrades, the commander also thanked the people for extending their unflinching support, even under threat.
He further pledged them to continue their support until their rightful interest has been attained.
In an apparent reference to the ceasefire/SOO reached by various armed group and the Government, SL Kuki, KNO's divisional officer claimed that the Govt of India and his organization will soon discuss the plight of the Kukis.
"Soon, we will take our anniversary celebrations from such a secluded place in the jungle to towns and cities", he assured the gathering.
