Imphal, June 08:
While raising strong objection to any attempt to superimpose the traditional administrative set-up in Moreh with modern local administrative systems like the small town committee or other municipality like set-ups, the Hill Tribal Council, KSO Moreh Block and KWU have submitted a representation to the Chief Minister which also urged for complete rehabilitation of the displaced villagers taking shelter at Moreh.
According to the representation, imposition of Municipal Acts in Moreh, predominantly inhabited by Kuki tribes will have serious socio-political implications even if some section have pleaded in contradiction to tribal aspirations.
Even as Rs 55 lakhs have been reportedly allocated for providing relief and managing the affairs of the displaced villagers, the relief never reached the hapless villagers, it said while asking through which agencies was this huge amount offered for the displaced villagers.
As for the recent turmoil in Moreh, the same was instigated by some quarters at the behest of militants having different ambitions and ideologies, noted the representation.
Even as there has been no feud or mistrust in Moreh, nothing can be predicted if sections of the community insist or rely on militant forces for advancing their agenda and fortunes at the cost of disturbing peace in the area.
The HTC, KSO and KWU maintained that posting of security forces/IRB is indispensable for peace in Jangngoulen (Phaisenjang), New Samtal, Sehlon, Joldam and TS Laijang which have been enduring the brunt of militant operations.
It further urged for complete resettlement of the displaced villagers currently taking refuge at Moreh with permanent security post at their native villages.
