Imphal, July 04 2009:
Demanding substitution of the present Director of Fire Service Department by July 8, employees of the Department have threatened to launch strike in case of non compliance.
A press release issued by the Fire Service employees said that they would not go for any rescue operation even if there is fire mishap or other accidents during the strike period.
Alleging that the present Director has no administrative acumen, the employees demanded appointment of an IPS officer, not lower than the rank of IGP as Director, Manipur Fire Service Department.
Another major demand includes maintaining status quo of the Department, currently under Home Department as opposed to the Govt's plan to keep it under Relief and Disaster Management Dept.
Other demands of the Fire Service employees include filling up the vacant posts of Joint Director, DO and Station Officer.
On the other hand, a press release issued by the Non-Gazetted Employees' Union, Manipur Fire Service said that the demand for replacement of the Director and the associated threat of cease work strike was not related to the union.
