Rajshree Bhagyachandra, a dance drama produced by Rajshree Bhagyachandra Research Institute with assistance from University of Bhagawat Culture, ISKCON was performed at the Prasadam hall of ISKCON here yesterday.
The dance drama has been produced as part of the research conducted on Rajshree Bhagyachandra with Bhaktiswarup Damodar Swami as the project director.
The two-hour long dance drama chronicled the historical events related to Rajshree Bhagyachandra starting from his childhood to his exploits in adulthood and how he became the king of Manipur after chasing away the marauding Burmese from the Kingdom of Manipur and finally innovated and dedicated Ras Leela to
Shri Gonvindajee.
Excluding offstage artistes, over 80 artistes including those chosen from Progressive Artistes Laboratory (PAL), Huyel Lallong Manipur Thang-Ta Cultural Association, Irilbung, Ragailong Khangchu, Ideal Music Academy Manipur and disciples of noted singer Oja Chaobhal acted onstage in presentation of the mega dance drama which has been hailed as one of the finest production in recent time.
The dance drama is being directed by L Tiken of Rajshree Bhagyachandra Research Institute with W Lokendra as the choreographer.
The script of the dance drama has been adapted by RK Danisana from the original script of Partha Sharthi Das.
RK Dushri Gopal Singh is the advisor of the mega production.
Elements of folk songs and dances, folk as well as classical dance forms and martial arts have been used liberally in the production of the mega dance drama ensuring an unforgettable spectacle to the audience in the capacity-filled Prasadam hall of ISKCON.
