Employees of the Manipur Fire Service department have pressurised the government authority to replace the present director of the Fires Service department while also threatening to cease services in case their demand is not fulfilled by July 8 .
Alleging the present director of the department as inefficient, source from the Fire Service department charged the director of initiating process on his own for the reposition of the fire service department under Relief and Disaster Management department.
Now under the Home department since May 1, 1991 after it was established on August 11, 1957 (with the name of Manipur Police Fire Service), the employees have strongly opposed to the move to relocate it to the Relief and Disaster Management.
At the same time, the employees have also demanded the filling of the vacant posts of joint director, DO, and Station Officer in the department.
Alleging the present director of not proficient in administration matter, the employees demand the government authority that the director should be an IPS officer not below the rank of IGP.
Further, they threaten not to avail service in case of emergency if their demands are not fulfilled by July 8 .
