Imphal, July 04 2009:
The state Cabinet at its meeting held this evening has approved the rate of Central Public Works (CPW) in the Rs 188 crore project of clearing phumdis in the Loktak lake.
Only one Kolkata based firm had come for the phumdi clearing project.
However, after three months, the firm informed the authority that the rate is too little and therefore, will not be able to work.
The Cabinet meeting reportedly noted that instead of clearing the phumdis, three months after the stipulated time of two years and three months for the job had lapsed, the firm complained of the rate being too little.
But today's Cabinet meeting approved of the new rate, and if the firm still does not work, then new tender would be invited, the Cabinet decided, sources said.
