For the first time in Manipur, an automatic weather station which can provide useful information to farmers such as the time and magnitude of rainfall, wind direction and other weather details was inaugurated by Education Commissioner Sambhu Singh at KVK Sylvan, Henbung in Senapati district today.
The monitoring system installed in the weather station can not only record the weather condition prevalent within its 20 km radius but also forecast weather condition likely in this area in the next seven days with the help of a super computer.
The weather station would be able to provide latest weather condition through internet.
It can also predict the best time for taking up social forestry and making IVRs.
The weather station developed by IIT Madras would be of immense help to farmers.
The inaugural function was presided by Senapati district DC Nidhi Kesarwani.
Other people who attended the function hailed the activities of the KVK.
During the function, weather conditions prevalent at the time in Henbung like temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction and rainfall were shown live.
