KSO bans railway work

Imphal, January 12 2016:
Demanding disbursement of
remaining compensation
amount to the affected land
owners, the Kuki Students'
Organisation, Jiribam &
Tamenglong has resolved to
ban the Jiri-Tupul railway line
project work in Jiribam and
Tamenglong for 48 hours
starting January 12 midnight.
In a statement, KSO,
Jiribam & Tamenglong gen-
eral secretary J Thangboi
Kuki said that the authority
concerned is yet to pay full
compensation amount to land
owners who have been evic-
ted for railway lines.
During
the last meeting, NFR official
in Silchar gave assurance to
compensate the remaining
amount within 15 days.
How-
ever, the same assurance
remains unfulfilled till now.
The organisation has there-
fore resolved to ban the rail-
way work for 48 hours , it
said.
Passenger vehicles will be
exempted from the purview
of the ban, the statement
added.
