Imphal, January 12 2016:
There is discord among the different
communities of the State due to lack of knowledge and
understanding of ones history, Dy CM Gaikhangam said.
The Dy CM was addressing the opening ceremony of the
24th sports meet organised by Liangmei Sports Association
(AMN) at Makhan village in Senapati district today.
Stressing the need to know one's root, Gaikhangam said
that peace and cordiality will prevail in the society had all
know their history and origin.
As such, today's youth should
understand and learn their history.
"We are of same origin," Gaikhangam said.
He urged all concerned to shun separatist agenda and
remain guarded against fissiparous tendencies.
"We are children of Manipur," he said.
Although the forefathers had not left any written history,
the present generation must learn and understand the oral
history inherited from the forefathers, Gaikhangam said.
He said that it is very unfortunate for people of
Zeliangrong not to have a common language.
He further said
that adopting Liangmei as the common language of the
Zeliangrong will suit the need of the people since the language
