Imphal, January 12 2016:
Under the
initiative of Imphal West
Students' Club, a new body
known as LPG Consumers'
Club would be formed to
highlight the grievances of
LPG consumers of the State.
Imphal West Students'
Club general secretary Atom
Samarendra told
The Sangai
Express
that the new body
would not work for LPG
consumers alone.
He said that the authority
concerned and the State Gov-
ernment can't remain silent
now and they have been com-
pelled to take up certain
corrective measures as
The
Sangai Express
has been
bringing out the discrepancies
in the distribution of LPG to
light with its series of news
reports.
The LPG Consumers'
Club would be initially
formed for the consumers of
Khumbong Indane Gramin
Vitrik alone.
However, consumers of
other LPG distributors may
also join the club, he said.
Samarendra said that al-
though the club is a body of
LPG consumers, it would
never take any one-sided de-
cision in favour of LPG
consumers.
It would try to understand
the problems and constraints
of both consumers and dis-
tributors to enable effective
distribution of LPG, he said.
Samarendra expressed
hope that the State would
witness improvement in LPG
distribution soon as IOC and
the State Government have
decided to put in joint efforts
to resolve the backlogs by
taking up different measures.
All Manipur Domestic
LPG Welfare Association
president Angom Jayanta said
that IOC and the State Gov-
ernment are not in a position
to remain silent now.
They
are set to put certain meas-
ures into effect to solve the
problem of scarcity of LPG
in the State, he said.
Online booking had al-
ready been activated by some
distributors, he said adding
that there are still however
many irregularities and prob-
lems regarding distri Charging additional amounts for new connection, delaying in providing
new connection, open selling of filled LPG cylinders in the
black market and delaying cylinders to new connections/consumers
are some of the common irregularities being witnessed in the
State, he said.
Jayanta further said that LPG consumers' bodies must not
observe these problems just from a single side.
Instead, they must coordinate both with the authorities
concerned and Government to settle all the issues, he said.
