Imphal, January 12 2016:
BJP Mahi-
la Morcha has donated relief
materials to people whose
houses have been damaged/
destroyed by the devastating
earthquake of January 4 and
who are taking shelter in relief
camps.
A team led by BJP Mahila
Morcha vice-president A Sar-
da and social worker Khwai-
rakpam Robin visited earth-
quake victims and donated
edible items at Kanglatongbi,
Kanto Sabal Leikai and Lei-
makhong.
The team found 75 people
of 19 families taking shelter
at Kanglatongbi Hindi High
School after their houses were
destroyed/damaged in the
earthquake.
After donating edible items
at the school-turned-relief
camp, the team visited earth-
quake affected families of
Kanto Sabal Leikai and sur-
rounding villages and donated
edible items.
Similar edible items were
also distributed to 132 people
of Leimakhong Ex-Service-
men Colony who are taking
shelter in relief camps.
The team also inspected
Awang Sekmai Community
Health Centre.
After inspecting the CHC,
Robin told media persons that
the CHC is wanting in all
respects.
He also accused the
MO of being derelict.
The MO has no idea how
many doctors, nurses and
staff are working at the CHC.
The CHC having 10 beds
is quite pathetic with all its
mattresses, bed sheets and pil-
lows worn out extremely.
The dental room of the CHC
is leaky and waste materials
disposed from the CHC are
being taken to nearby houses
by dogs.
He urged concerned au-
thorities to inform the Sek-
mai Protection Committee,
local clubs and Meira Paibis why the CHC building which was constructed
since 2012 has not been completed till date.
The team also interacted with A Tampha, Headmistress of
Neelapadma Higher Secondary School, Sekmai.
They found the school in deplorable condition and sought
immediate attention of the concerned authority.
Robin said that the school has no Chowkidar, LDC and
Computer teacher.
Walls of the school developed cracks at the
impact of the recent earthquake.
Toilets of the schools which are being used by both teachers
and students were quite messy, he remarked.
