Women folk secure release of arrested man

Women-folk of Ngariyan village in Bishnupur district secured the release of a man who was reportedly arrested by a combined team of 6/8 GR and Bishnupur district police commandos today.
The incident happened amidst the ongoing hearing conducted on extrajudicial killings in the State by an enquiry panel set up under the directive of the Supreme Court.
On hearing the news that a man, identified as Kakchingtabam Rajendro (35) s/o K Amutomba of Kakching Khunou Kshetri Leikai was arrested by the combined team of 6/8 GR and Bishnupur commandos today around 3.30 am, womenfolk of Ngariyan stormed the Gorkha Rifles camp at Ngariyan and secured the release of the arrested man.
K Rajendro is presently staying at Ngariyan village after his marriage to a local, Heingamlu Rongmei since 2000 .

Addressing media persons today, Rajendro said he was a former member of the underground KYKL.
However, he returned to the mainstream since his marriage with Heingamlu in 2000.Since then he settled at Ngariyan village and never maintained any relation with any underground group.
He was arrested from his in-law's house this morning by the combined team of security forces.
Secretary of Ngariyan village Women's Society, Namshamei Rongmei reacted that had not the womenfolk secured the release of the arrested man, he might be another victim of extrajudicial killings, which is rampant in the State.
She also urged all concerned to remain alert against evil designs.
