Biswajit bats for BJP candidates
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, April 02 2019: BJP Manipur Pradesh Election Campaign Committee vice-chairman and Government spokesman Th Biswajit has appealed to all the electors of Manipur to elect the two BJP candidates to the Lok Sabha so that Manipur can obtain its due share of funds from the Central Government.

The Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been paying special attention to bring speedy development in Manipur and the entire North East region.

Almost 21 per cent of the Union budget for 2019-20 has been earmarked for the North East and this is something not done by any P,rime Minister in the past, Biswajit said while interacting with some media persons today.

Claiming that development is the main agenda of BJP, Biswajit said that the Central Government has sanctioned Rs 4800 crore in the first phase for Manipur Roads Development Programme.

Another Rs 2700 crore has been sanctioned for construction of more than 435 roads and bridges.

He went on to claim that construction of roads is much faster under the NDA Government as compared to the UP A Government.

It was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who upgraded DoNER Department established during the time of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to the level of a Ministry and this is a testimony of Narendra Modi's commitment to bring speedy development in the North East region.

The Central Government has been investing 10 per cent of the annual budget in the DoNER Ministry so as to bring the North East region at par with other regions of the country, Biswajit said.

The Central Government decided to set up a National Sports University in the State in recognition of the immense contributions made by Manipuri players in the field of games and sports at National and international championships.

Again, Prime Minister Narendra Modi honoured all the womenfolk of Manipur and the North East by nominating MC Mary Kom to the Rajya Sabha, he said.

The country has seen many Prime Ministers since independence but Narendra Modi is different from all Prime Ministers in terms of outlook and approach.

He was given a standing ovation repeatedly when he addressed the White House in the USA, said the Government spokesman.

At the proposal of Prime Minister Modi, the United Nations declared June 21 as the International Yoga Day since 2014.Narendra Modi is a capable and visionary leader and he has been accepted as one of the distinguished leaders of the world, Biswajit claimed.

UPA Government's Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh was said to be an excellent economist but he could not introduce Goods and Services Tax (GST) .

Nonetheless, Narendra Modi has successfully implemented GST and as a result, the country's economy has been growing rapidly.

India demonstrated its nuclear power to the whole world when the then Government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee conducted nuclear test at Pokhran.

The nuclear test reflected BJP's ideology 'Nation first, party second and self-last', Biswajit said.

The Mission Shakti accomplished on March 27 this year proved that India is now a space super power.

India is the fourth country in the whole world to have successfully put a satellite around Mars, he continued.

After terrorists carried out a suicide attack in Kashmir in which 44 security forces were killed, India carried out surgical strikes at the training camps of JeM at Balakot, Pakistan by crossing the international border.

The strike sent a strong message to Pakistan and the whole world about India's position on terrorism, he said.

Reacting to Congress party's allegation that Narendra Modi has been wasting public money by touring foreign countries, Biswajit said that the Prime Minister's foreign tours have successfully established friendly diplomatic relations with many countries across the globe.

There were many restrictions on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) during the UPA Government but the NDA Government has formulated many policies to ease FDI in India.

Likewise, the State Government has been working to ease foreign investment in the State by adopting a single window clearance system, he said.

An agreement has been already signed to tap solar energy in the State through FDI and Manipur would be the first State in the whole country which would receive FDI in power sector.

The total FDI received by India is 38 billion dollars as compared to China's 32 billion dollars, claimed the Government spokesman.

India occupied 99th position in the World Bank's Electricity Accessibility ranking but India's position has jumped to 26th with development of necessary infrastructure after the NDA Government led by Narendra Modi was installed and this is a matter of pride for the whole country, he said.

There were only 25 beneficiaries of Ujjwala Yojana in the State when the Congress party was in power but the number of beneficiaries has reached 1.30 lakh after the BJP-led Government was sworn in.

Rejecting Rahul Gandhi's allegation that the Modi Government has failed abjectly in providing jobs to unemployed people, Biswajit contended that a large number of youth have been empowered to generate self employment apart from providing jobs to others through Make in India and StartUp schemes.

People who want to do business but lack capital have been allowed to take bank loans ranging from Rs 50,000 to 10,00,000 under MUDRA Yojana.

There are 1,12,000 MUDRA Yojana beneficiaries in the State and the total loan amount given to them is Rs 780 crore.

UP has 80 Lok Sabha seats but only Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are contesting the Lok Sabha election in that State from the Congress.

Congress party is not fielding any other candidate in the State.

For fear of BJP's Smriti Irani in Amethi, Rahul Gandhi is planning to contest the election in Kerala, he said.

He then asked how could Congress form Government at the Centre when they cannot field more than two candidates in UP which has 80 Lok Sabha seats.

He also asked how and where the MP funds sanctioned to the Congress MPs elected from Manipur during the last 10/15 years were spent.

It is a landmark achievement for BJP that the Central Government has been providing medical assistance of Rs five lakh under Ayushman Bharat and another Rs two lakh under CMHT to poor families of the country and the State, he added.
