World Heart Day observed

The State NCD (Non-Communicable Diseases) Cell today observed the 'World Heart Day' today in collaboration with District NCD Cells at different locations by organising awareness talks, CV risk estimation blood test and ECG examination of NCD patients.
Dr Y Premchandra Singh, State Nodal Officer, NPCDCS (National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke) visited PHC Komlathabi as a part of the observation and revivewed the NCD screening activities in the community centre and discussed strategies to reach out to heart patients during this time of COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr Lee Die Gratia Kamei, Public Health Specialist delivered the theme talk on the observation function.
W Imo, programme officer, Tata Trust and W Sheirangba, State Programme Coordinator, NCD delivered talks on NCD risk factors and different benefits given by the programme to NCD parients.

Meanwhile, joining the rest of the world, the NCD Cell under National Health Mission, Senapati also observed the World Heart Day, 2020 under the theme "Creating Heart-Healthy Environments" at OPD Hall, District Hospital, Senapati.
Dr Pfokreho Pfoze, CMO, Senapati graced the occasion as chief guest, in the presence of Dr M Sokhaa, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital, Senapati, medical doctors, ASHA workers and NCD patients.
Dr Sokhaa in her sppech urged the gathering to use one's heart for better choice, to listen to one's heart and to take part in the fight against Covid-19 .
Dr Johnny Varay, physician, District Hospital, Senapati also spoke on the cardiovascular and related disease and its causes.
He also urged people to adopt a healthier lifestyle and to not indulge in vices like smoking, eating tobacco, etc.
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Pfokreho Pfoze stated that records of deaths due to heart related problems is the highest in the world comparing to other deaths while stressing on the importance of one's health.
Clinical assessment like measurement of BMI and BP, estimation of Blood Sugar and Lipid Profile and ECG test were taken up to NCD patients.
The Program was held with strict maintenance of SOP.
The World Heart Day 2020 was also observed at the community hall of Pukhao Ahallup in Imphal East organised by Senior Citizens of Pukhao Ahallup.
Dr Kshetrimayum Kala Singh, president, Manipur Heart Care Society attended the programme as the resource person.
About 80 senior citizens attended the observation.
Speaking at the observation, Dr Kala said "we don't know when the COVID-19 pandemic will end.
But we do know the risk factors for heart diseases.
In a year, 17.9 million deads are reported due to cardiovascular diseases.
But the death rate of COVID-19 from December 2019 upto September 2020 is 10,04,613 .
So, we should take extra care to protect ourselves from cardiovascular diseases as it is number one killer" .
