CRPF celebrates 77th Foundation Day

Group Centre CRPF celebrated 77th foundation day of CRPF today by honouring families of the martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation at the premises of Group Centre, CRPF, Langjing.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is the premier central police force of the Union of India for internal security.
Originally constituted as the Crown Representative Police in 1939, it is one of the oldest Central Para- military forces (now termed as Central Armed Police Force).
CRPF was raised as a sequel to the political unrest and the agitation in the then princely States of India following the Madras Resolution of the All-India Congress Committee in 1936 and the ever-growing desire of the Crown Representative to help the vast majority of the native States to preserve law and order as a part of the imperial policy.
The Central Reserve Police Force came into existence as Crown Representative's Police on July 27, 1939.It became the Central Reserve Police Force on enactment of the CRPF Act on December 28, 1949 .
The celebration was carried out by honouring the martyrs who laid down their lives.
Later flag of the oldest Para-military force was also hoisted at the quarter guard.
Family members of the martyred soldiers were honoured with gifts and presentation.
The observation was attended by IGP Manipur and Nagaland Sector K Vijay Kumar, DIGP Group Centre CRPF Imphal Vikram Sahgal, DIGP of Manipur and Nagaland Sector R Dvidang, Mohinder Singh, DIGP Range Imphal Dr Subhash Damle and Commandant, Group Centre, Munna Kumar Singh.
As part of the observation ceremony, officials also inaugurated a mela at the premises of the Group Centre CRPF, Langjing.
Para-military forces currently serving were also honoured by the IGP as part of the observation.
IGP Vijay Kumar highlighted the various aspects of the CRPF and the role taken by the oldest para-military force of the country in maintaining peace and order.
