Shifting of NFSA rice for Chandel district begins

Shifting of rice meant for distribution to beneficiaries of Chandel district under National Food Security Act (NFSA) from CAF & PD's Sangaiprou godown to district godowns has begun from today.
CAF & PD Minister Ksh Biren and Health Minister DK Korungthang today inspected the 5000-quintal capacity godown located at Pallel and oversaw shifting works.
Ksh Biren told media persons that fair price shop agents would no more need to lift rice from Sangaiprou godown as the State Government would bring district quotas up to district headquarters now.
He said that NFSA rice had already been provided to Thoubal, Bishnupur and Chandel districts so far.
For Imphal East district, he said, rice would be stored at the extension points of CAF & PD at Napetpalli and Porompat.
Saying that distribution of rice to fair price shop agents for April to June months from Sangaiprou godown had already begun, Ksh Biren said that transportation of rice from Sangaiprou to district headquarters for July would also commence soon.
The Minister further said that the State Government would look into the complaints of the beneficiaries and put in necessary efforts to provide their whole quota of rice at the earliest.
Saying that the Government is currently providing rice to the people at a subsidised rate of Rs 3 per kg under the Act, Biren said that this rate would be effective till March 31, 2017 .
