Artistes croon to compete and hail late leader

The 18th State Level Jananeta Irawat (Irabot) Sheitha Eeshei Changdamnaba (song competition) organised by All India Youth Federation, Manipur State Council was held today at Rup Mahal Theatre, BT Road.
Art and Culture Director Dr K Sobita Devi inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp and led the gathering in offering floral tributes at the portrait of the pioneering figure.
The Irawat memorial song competition organised as part of the monthlong celebration of Irawat's birth anniversary was participated by a total of 42 artistes in senior and junior groups with the result likely to be announced at a later date.
Noting activities and contribution of Jananeta Irawat for a classless society and campaigning for welfare of the peasant community, the chief guest stated that people of present-day Manipur need to follow in the footsteps of Irawat.

Suggesting that Jananeta's birth anniversary celebration should be held across the State, she expressed hope that holding similar events to spread the message of Irawat beyond the boundaries of Manipur would reap positive benefits.
speaking on the occasion as functional president, State Council AIYF president Sh Purnimashi Devi asserted that all out effort would be made to continuously organise the commemorative function in the future as a mark of gratitude to the departed leader.
Manipur Building and Construction Workers' Welfare Board chairperson G Tombi Sharma and TP Cell Executive Engineer Joykumar Singh graced the occasion as the guests of honour.
