Imphal, September 23 2012:
The district KSO branches of the State have decided not to support the 48 hours bandh called by five hill-based student organisations and all the district KSO branches have unanimously endorsed the agreement reached between KSO Ghqs and the Education Minister on September 18 wherein the possibility of opening TET exam centres in all district headquarters was explored and discussed.
In this respect, the Education Minister had given his assurance to open TET exam centres in all the districts hqs in all future TET exams.
Whereas the KSO always made it a point to consult all the tribal student organisations wherever tribal issues were concerned, the KSO was not taken into confidence by the five student organisations on the decision to call the 48 hours bandh, said a joint statement of district KSO branches.
Pointing out that an agreement was already signed with the Education Minister regarding the issue of TET centres of which details have been made known to the public through media, it questioned the intention behind calling a general strike on the same matter and passing it off as a tribal issue.
It went on to ask, "Where were the other hill based student bodies when the KSO first raised the issue?" .
Saying that they fail to understand the logic behind the general strike, the district KSO branches informed that they would not be a party to the general strike.
No general strike would be allowed to be enforced in Kuki areas of the State, they added.
