The State Cabinet today has recommended payment of Rs 1 lakh each as incentive to candidates from Manipur who pass the preliminary examination of the combine Civil Services Examination conducted by the UPSC.
Talking to the media after the Cabinet meeting, spokesperson of the Government and Sports Minister N Biren explained that the incentive has been recommended for further preparation including coaching classes, etc of the candidates.
Today's Cabinet meeting also discussed devolution of power to the District Councils.
Matters related to most Departments have been discussed and to arrive at a final decision, a meeting with the Chief Minister with each Dept on August 25 has been fixed, the Govt spokesperson disclosed, adding that the decision taken during the proposed meeting would be referred to the Hill Area Committee for necessary review and rectification.
Biren added that the Cabinet has also recommended hiking the monthly ration amount of State security personnel from Rs 575 to Rs 1000, appointment of a Counsel to assist the AG, appointment of 8 regular posts to the Directorate of Management Information System and extension of pension to the next of kins of late Havildar Samarendro of Lilong Ushoipokpi.
