The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has reiterated that the BRO has been working hard to make NH 53 trafficable as soon as possible.
In a press release, Lt Col Prashant Gaur, 2IC for Commander of 765 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) said that the continuous onslaught on the people of Manipur of ever spiraling price due to the ongoing economic blockade on NH 39 and the deteriorating condition of NH 53 due to unprecedented rainfall coupled with non sanction of works have stirred the Govt of India.
He said, the visit of high level delegation team lead by AE Ahmed, Secy Border Management on July 31 and further meetings have urged the BRO to undertake immediate repairs.
In the wake of the crisis and urgent instructions received from the Ministry, the BRO has been mandated to undertake the responsibility of repairing of NH 53 .
HQ 765 BRTF has been asked to relocate itself from Churachandpur to Uchchathol (Jiribam) by August 31 in view of the crises endured by the people of Manipur, informed Lt Col Gaur.
He further asserted that a series of repair/maintenance work is being undertaken on this road from Km 130 (Nungba) till Km 170 (Kaimai).
A large number of vehicles including earth moving machines, road roller, and load carriers have been inducted into the road sector.
Four Dozers, five JCBs and three Poklains apart from 14 Tippers have also been placed at critical junctions to recover broken down vehicles.
The Officer informed that repair of very bad patches are also being undertaken on priority so as to restore the trafficability of NH 53.AE for undertaking immediate repair post monsoon damage from Nungba till Jiribam has been prepared and forwarded to higher HQs for vetting and sanction.
Nonetheless, the urgent nature of the work is being undertaken simultaneously to make the road traffic worthy.
The possible bottlenecks have been widened to enable speedy induction of traffic.
The pace of work is occasionally getting hampered due to frequent rains, however, full pace will be resumed at the end of monsoon season.
The BRO urged the people of Manipur to stand by the organisation to enable them to repair the road in the given time frame.
BRO is pledged and honour bound to make NH 53 trafficable road.
It will leave no stone unturned to make the NH 53 traffic worthy at the earliest in order to mitigate the problems being faced by the people of Manipur, the press release added.
