United Committee has strongly reacted to the defiance of the common agreement arrived at after a series of joint meetings with the passengers vehicles owners' association on passenger fares of passenger servicing diesel auto, Tata Magic and other light vehicles by a few defiant vehicle owners and associations.
In a press release, Secretary , IPR, UCM Kh Nilamani Kha Nganba, has said that neither UCM nor vehicle owners are the authorities to fix passenger fares, UCM said that the government is the right authority to fix passenger fares so until the government announces revised passenger fares, all passenger vehicles are informed to charge fares which were in effect before May.
UCM has also strongly condemned the incidents of damaging passenger vehicles servicing on agreed fares , These acts are perpetrated by few members of passenger vehicles associations.
UCM also said that those vehicle owners unwilling to continue servicing on agreed fares may abstain from servicing however they have no right to harass or intimidate other passenger vehicles from continuing servicing, the press release added.
UCM asked the trouble creators to abstain from further disturbances to passenger vehicles servicing with agreed fares.
