Health insurance scheme launched in state: Parijat

The existence of Communist Party of India (CPI) in Manipur completed 63 years today.
The CPI, Manipur State Council celebrated the day with a grand function at GM Hall, Imphal.
Addressing the function as chief guest, state health and family welfare and labour minister, Ph Parijat announced that health insurance scheme which would provide financial assistants upto Rs 30,000 a year to the working class people has been launched in the state too.
The minister said that government has introduced the scheme so that the poor and working class people could be helped to at least some certain extent.
Government is determined to extend help to the poorer sections and the working class people of the society, he added.
The scheme which would benefit the working class people will be first introduced in Imphal east district and smart cards under the scheme will be distributed soon.
Five family members of a smart card holder could avail the benefit of free medical treatment under the scheme, said the chief guest.
Not only this, government has agreed to extend monetary assistance to BPL (Below Property Line) card holders.
Cabinet has approved it, Parijat said.
Steps to reach out to far flung and remote hilly areas of the state have also been taken up by health and family welfare department, said the minister adding that six nursing institutes which would be set up in the two valley districts of Bishnupur and Thoubal and the hill districts are also on the cards.
Referrig to the activities of the party, the chief guest said that the party is for the suppressed people of the society, poor farmers and down trodden section of the society.
The ideology of the party is totally different from other political parties.
The party is being a part of the ruling SPF government in consideration of the welfare of the people.
The party joined the government not for the party's interest but for the sake of the people and draws attention of the government towards taking up welfare works for the poorer sections of the society, the minister asserted.
MLAs of CPI, N Mangi who is also the chairman of MANIDCO, H Borajao, CPI state council secretary, Langol Iboyaima, chairman of the control committee of the party, Moirangthem Ibohal and secretariat member Dr M Nara, president of the All Manipur Loumi Lup Th Tomba and president of the All Manipur Nupi Marup, Y Ibeni were on the dais at the celebration function.
MLA, N Mangi talked on the ideology of the party and said the party has its own unique ideology.
The party has been struggling for the down trodden people of the society tirelessly since it was founded under the initiative of Hijam Irabot.
The Manipur of today might not have existed if Irabot had not objected to the formation of Purbachal state by amalgamating all the states in the north east region of the country.
Irabot had strongly opposed the initiative of the then home minister of India Sardar Patel to form a single state in the region, he said.
