Imphal, April 21:
Inspite of an official communication from the Rashtrapati Bhavan for delivery of two computer sets to a churachandpur district school as was promised by the President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam during his visit there, the State Government is yet to construct two rooms in the said institution for storing the computer sets.
According to an informed source, an amount of Rs 5.7 lakhs was released on March 31 for construction of 2/3 rooms in Bunglon High School, Churachandpur district, but till date no significant progress had been made to begin construction activities.
Apparently upset with lethargic approach, the Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh is informed to have issued notices to relevant officials for prompt action.
It is pertinent to mention that on invitation of an award winning teacher of Bunglon High School, the President has visited the institution when he last visited Manipur.
For extending computer knowledge to the school children President Kalam had promised computer sets consequent to which the Rashtrapati Bhavan conveyed its readiness to provide the computer sets.
