A lecture programme on the topic "Philosophy of Science" was held today at the Senate hall of Manipur University.
The lecture programme organised by the Department of Philosophy, MU under the sponsorship of Indian Council of Philosophical Research, New Delhi was attended by Pro Vice Chancellor Prof H Nandakumar, Prof M Shyamkishore of Philosophy Department MU and Registrar Dr RK Ranjan as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Addressing the lecture programme, Prof Th Jekendra of the Department of Physics MU attributed the unprecedented progress of science to the methods of study based on pure facts and experiments, used in studying science.
Noting that men have been studying the earth through Science, Jekendra asserted that Philosophy will not be able to explain Science for all scientific theories are based on practical experiments and experience.
The lecture programme attended by teachers and students of Physics and Philosophy Depts culminated with an interactive session between the speakers and students.
