Vision Creative School of Science declared 'Drug Free School'

Targeting the adolescent youth and students in the school for the primary prevention of drug abuse and alcoholism, a massive awareness, education and sensitization programme was held at the Multipurpose Hall of Vision Creative School of Science, Thoubal Okram today.
The programme was attended by Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign Committee member, Yumnam Laksman Singh; School Principal, T Nandalal Meitei; Development for Women Programme Centre, secretary, AK Nandarani Devi and Mathematics lecturer, Kesho Singh as presidium members.
Addressing the programme, Y Laksman Singh categorically pointed out the efforts made by the Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign programme under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India to make Thoubal district free from intoxicating drugs and alcoholism.

Awareness and education on drug abuse are essential to understand the harmful effects of substance abuse to the health, family and society, he added.
He continued that awareness followed by behavioural and attitudinal change is equally important.
For those who are already a victim of drug addiction, there is a need to send them to the Hospitals and Rehabilitation Centres for detoxification, counselling, etc.
Drug addiction is a treatable disease, he added.
Kesho Singh also cautioned the youth and students to not indulge in drug and alcohol abuse.
Later, the School Principal declared the Vision Creative School of Science , Thoubal Okram as 'Drug Free School' and extended his appreciation to the Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign Committee, Thoubal for organising the programme in the interest of the teachers, non-teaching staff and the students at large.
He further expressed his desire to organise the programme in the school at regular intervals.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from Ak Nandarani Devi.
