Calling upon all the people to protect the State from the second wave of COVID-19, Chief Minister N Biren has asserted that the ban imposed on Thabal Chongba and Shumang Lila is in public interest.
The Chief Minister said this at the inaugural function of Kontha Literary and Sporting Club (KLSC), Kontha which was renovated under the Civic Action Programme of CRPF.
Saying that a second wave of COVID-19 has been spreading in many countries including some States of India, Biren maintained that the Government decided to prohibit Thabal Chongba and staging of Shumang Lila in order to protect the State from the pandemic's second wave.
Pointing out that the people of Assam have been following their own SOP, the Chief Minister appealed to all the people to adhere to the State's COVID-19 SOP.
Saying that he came across several posts and comments in social media which tend to project the preventive and protective measures taken up by the State Government against COVID-19 in wrong light, Biren urged all social media users to understand freedom of speech as well as the associated responsibility.
Killings and violence which were reported in the State every single day sometime back have become a thing of the past now, and this is a result of the BJP-led Government's engagement with the people at every level, Biren claimed.
Highlighting the importance of fostering a cordial relationship between the public and security forces in order to build a healthy and peaceful society, CRPF 69 Bn CO Bajrang Lal asserted that the North East region can be a peaceful region only when there is cordial relationship between the masses and security forces.
He also sought public support to the different activities taken up by CRPF under its Civic Action Programme.
