Highlighting the problems being faced by the villagers of New Washong in Chingai Sub-Divisions in Ukhrul district, New Washong Katamnao Long has decried apathetic attitude of the Government towards the grievances of the people.
In a statement, Long secretary Pomi Zimik alleged the Government of neglecting the village in all respects.
Situated in interior parts of Chingai Sub-Division, the village comprising of 95 houses and about 600 population still lack basic necessities of life, he said.
The only primary school in the village having 85 students is presently being managed by a lone undergraduate teacher and the school building is in shamble, he informed.
The village is also yet to be electrified and there is no medical facilities to contain any outbreak of epidemics, he rued.
Lamenting over the deplorable condition of road and bridges in the village, Long secretary stated that Centrally sponsored schemes like Integrated Village Road (IVR) is yet to be implemented in the area.
Due to lack of irrigation facilities, the farmers are also suffering from failure of crop resulting in scarcity of food and starvation every year, he further lamented, while urging the Government for taking up necessary measures to redress the grievances of the people.
Govt�s transfer policy flayed: Kasom Khullen Sub-division Development Committee, Ukhrul district has expressed strong resentment over the frequent transfer and posting of Kasom Khullen SDO.
Such frequent transfer and posting of Government officials hampered in taking up developmental works, Committee chairman S Thotasheng stated in a release.
Reminding that the Committee has time and again demanded for posting of an MCS officer as SDO to the sub-division for effectively administration, chairman S Thotasheng why the Government has issued a transfer and posting order to one SDC incumbent as SDO in-charge of the subdivisions.
