Imphal, July 13:
Strongly refuting the charges levelled by Assam Rifles authorities against Th Manorama, Shengoi Luwang president of "People's Action Committee Against the Brutal Killing of Th Manorama Devi By 17 AR" has today clarified that Manorama was an innocent civilian who did not have any sort of connection with any of the underground organizations operating in the State.
Talking to mediapersons at Bamon Kampu today, Shengoi Luwang said that the allegations levelled against Manorama by the Assam Rifles authorities was nothing but an attempt to hoodwink the public and cover up their inhuman deeds.
He also said that the AR authorities' attempt to pacify the public by terming the victim as a hardcore PLA cadre have backfired and has resulted only in adding fuel to the bottled up rage and anger of the people.
Refuting the AR charges that Manorama had been working as an IED expert in the PLA from 1999 onwards, Luwang said that Manorama was at home and undergoing medical treatment for heart problem during the period mentioned by the Assam Rifles and further added that Manorama was not involved in the Lilong blast which claimed six lives as she was undergoing treatment at Chandigarh at that point of time.
Refuting the AR charges that Manorama had recently arrived at Imphal on July 10 from Chandel after informing PLA Hqs about the details of the army deployment in the area, Luwang said that on that particular day Manorama was at home with her friends preparing "Khichri".
