Even though heavy landslides during the last few days have destroyed 65 houses and properties worth lakhs of rupees in and around Mao area, no relief measures from the Govt has so far been provided to the affected people of the area till today, informed S Pfokreni secretary Phikomai village.
He also lamented that except for some few police officers, no Minister or the Senapati DC have visited the area inspite of the inconvenience caused by the massive landslides and added that most of the affected villagers are presently taking refuge at the surrounding villages.
Informing that most of the HT lines in the area have also snapped following heavy landslides in the area, he added that most of the areas under Senapati district have been experiencing complete blackout for the last few days.
This has added to the woes of the people.
Mention may be made here that landslides have been occurring in and around Mao area regularly since July 9 destroying residential houses, offices and valuable properties in the process.
According to another report, a massive landslide at Pikhomei village half Km south of Mao Police Station last night damaged four residential buildings besides causing serious damages to the paddy fields and properties.
Reports however informed that there was no casualty during the landslide as all the residents had shifted to safer areas before the landslide.
Although road on the affected areas have been partially repaired by the GREF authorities the road is still not motorable for heavy vehicles due to the slushy conditions.
Out of the 188 trucks and three buses still stranded on NH-39 near Mao, 20 trucks are reported to be LPG carriers, further said the report.
