Imphal, June 13:
A retired high ranking state government officer who is set to face criminal proceedings against him for having allegedly manipulated his date of birth to have his superannuated service extended for two extra years and four months.
According to the findings of the state vigilance police, the gentleman had succeeded in showing his age 14 years, 11 months instead of the actual years, three months as on March 1, 1956, in his service book.
The officer in question, Laishram Raghumani Singh, of Keishamthong Irom Pukhri Mapal, joined the state government service as a section officer in the public works department and rose to the rank of secretary (tech/works).
The trial for the genuineness of the date of birth recorded on his service book has come up before the court of the chief judicial magistrate, CJM, Imphal.
It is learnt that the vigilance police has found sufficient prima facie evidence against him for manipulating his date of birth on his service book.
A charge sheet against him was placed before the magistrate in March last for charge consideration.
