Imphal, June 13:
State Samata Party leader and former chief minister, Radhabinod Koijam today made scarcely veiled attacks on its NDA partner BJP during the one day state level political conference of the part held here today.
Radhabinod charged his government's partners of stabbing behind his back.
Apparently referring to BJP which was responsible for the fall of his government, he said, "they are best described by the Hindi proverb Muh main Ram Ram bagal main suri".
At the end of his speech, Radhabinod said, "...now see what has the political group which chants Rain Ram is doing in Manipur as well as at the Centre".
He blasted the dissidents during the confidence vote for unnecessarily toppling his government without an alternative to it.
He asked if the dissidents had a policy why it was not made public.
Radhabinod said he was too busy formulating plans for development when his partners in the government stabbed him from behind.
He said he was not charged before, during or after the confidence vote because he and his party were straight.
During his three month tenure as the chief minister, Radhabinod said that he never misused even a single paise.
Participating in the conference, NDA convenor and former Union defence minister George Fernandes said Samata Party was the only party that could do something for the state but the toppling of the government led by it has sealed the fate of the state.
He however assured that the party will continue to do what it can for the state.
The Samata Party leader launching a broadside against the Speaker, Sapam Dhananjoy said, he (Dhananjoy) has made the party a laughing stock in front of all.
If he wanted to form the government he should first know the law.
He did nothing fruitful, Fernandes said.
Former Samata Party president Jaya Jaitley said the present President's rule is to gain control over the law and order and financial situation in the state.
Making a blanket attack on the MLAs defecting from one party to another, she said such attitude of the MLAs has landed the state in such a precarious situation.
Making a hint that the party will be part of the next government, she said the party will make various strategies to solve the unemployment problem of the state.
Samata Party national general secretary, Sambhu Sharan Shrivastava expressed strong concern over the degrading political value of the state.
Sambhu said even if the party is not in power, it will continue to fight and take the fight to Delhi for the development of the state.
He also said that the party still has a strong hold in the state and the recent result of the Imphal Municipal Council speaks for itself.
