Chadong body, UCM exchange food

Chadong New, West and Maphao Development Committee has presented locally grown vegetables to a team of United Committee Manipur (UCM) who were on their visit to the Chadong villages in continuation of their relief activities in wake of the lockdown due to COVID-19 on May 9.The UCM team handed out rice, potatoes, onions etc to the Chadong villagers to extend support and alleviate shortage of essential items at this trying time and to mark the bond of brotherhood among different communities residing together in the State.
Shinaogam Kasung, vice chairman of Chadong New, West and Maphao Development Committee, maintained that the vegetables grown by residence of Chadong villages under Kamjong district, were offered to the UCM team to show their solidarity and to strengthen the emotional and physical bond between hill and valley people.
He also said that the Nationwide lockdown has affected everyone but at the same time has provided a platform to share things amongst communities and bring everyone closer.
He also expressed hope that the all will remain close and harmoniously help one another in the future as well.
He also draw attention of the Chief Minister of Manipur to release water from Maphou Dam as lives of the nearby residents are hindered in many ways with the rising water level which has also prevented them from cleaning the bed of the reservoir which were once a settlement area.
Sunil Karam, president of UCM, during the exchange programme said that the urge to coexist and share things at such hard time has once again proven that different communities living in the State are all brothers.
We all need to continue the trend and preserve the brotherhood spirit forever, he added.
The items presented by Chadong villagers were latter distributed to needy people, said a statement of UCM.
