Detoxification camp concludes

The 30-day long shelter home cum detoxification camp for drug users organised by Community Response on COVID-19 (CRoC-19), a conglomerate of 10 civil society organisations working in the field of drugs and HIV, at three different locations in Imphal East and Imphal West concluded today.
The camp which started at Punshi Rehabilitation Centre, Ishikha, Imphal East with altogether 41 street based/homeless drug users was later extended at Sanity Foundation, Patsoi Part 1, Imphal West (47 inmates) and another 38 inmates at Ipa Ibungo Midway Home at Loitang Khunnou Mayai Leikai, Imphal West, said a statement of CRoC-19.All the clients who took part in the camp at Sanity Foundation and Ipa Ibungo Midway Home have been referred to other private rehabilitation centres for further rehabilitation process while some of the clients at Punshi Rehabilitation centre have been sent to their homes, it said adding that there are a few of them who volunteered to stay back at the centre for some more time.
During the camp necessary tests for HCV and HIV were also conducted.
All the inmates were also imparted education on HIV, HCV and linkages to harm reduction services, CRoC added.
The closing ceremony of the 30-day long shelter home cum detoxification camp was held at Punshi Rehabilitation Centre, Ishikha with Khundrakpam AC MLA Th Lokeshwar and CRoC-19 chairperson Dinesh Hijam as chief guest and president respectively.
Mutum Churamani and Ishikha Village Development Committee president Oinam Kulachandra were also present as special guests.
CRoC-19 was formed on April 30 with the sole motive of controlling the spread of COVID-19 among the drug users community.
