Imphal, May 05 2010: Effigies of Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh and Union home minister, P Chidambaram and others behind the brewing up tensions in Manipur were burnt down today by the volunteers of the United Committee Manipur (UCM) at Lamphel Traffic Island.

While burning down the effigies, UCM accused the Government of India of spewing communal venoms to the people of the North East particularly in Manipur and Nagaland by giving permission Muivah to enter Manipur.

They also shouted various slogans against the Muivah's propose visit to the state.

"Muivah political intentions are already very clear to the people of state and his presence would incite another incident of ethnic tension in the state," president of UCM Yumnam Dilipkumar said urging that government of India can prevent it by stopping Muivah from entering the state.

The UCM has also announced series of protest to be launched against the decision of the New Delhi and proposed visit of Muivah in the state which is heating up in the state.

To prevent any unwanted incident arising out of the brewing tensions in the state, the committee also announced that they banned movement of commercial vehicles including passenger service vehicles plying from valley to hill areas for indefinite period of time starting from 5 am of tomorrow.

President of the UCM Dilipkumar while announcing this reiterated the firmed stand of the committee in protecting the territorial integrity of the state.

He said, it's a wrongful step of the Government of India by efforting to allow entering Muivah in the state despite the state government Cabinet decision to ban his entry is an unfortunate incident.

It indicated that the Centre is also involved in the conspiracy to disintegrate Manipur.

Reiterating that Muivah cannot enter to the state where the cease-fire between the NSCN(IM) and GOI is not extended.

Muivah is coming to the state with his hidden agendas of breaking the Manipur territory; he observed urging all concerns to stop any attempt to break Manipur.

While informing that UCM had submitted a memorandum to the PM which also forwarded to Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram, chairperson of the UPA Sonia Gandhi reminding the incident of June Uprising of 2001 when the Centre agreed to the extension of cease fire with the NSCN(IM) beyond territorial limits of Nagaland, he expressed dissatisfaction on not getting any reply from the Centre.

The crisis that generated through government of India's "appeasement policy" towards the NSCN had not yet been erased inspite of Congress led United Progressive Alliance came to power at the Centre, he recalled the contain of the memorandum.

The communal tension which is likely to be whipped up by the proposed entry of Muivah, general secretary of the NSCN(IM) at his home village at Somdal of Ukhrul district, should be the sole responsible for the Indian government, he warned.

"The proposed entry may again re-produce the crisis that engulfed Manipur in the summer 2001," he threw the attention of the PM reiterating the idea of peaceful co-existence amidst the ethnic communities of Manipur and would not object to the homecoming of a peaceful citizen of the state of Manipur.

The UCM also announced that a public meeting will be held tomorrow at THAU ground, Thangmeiband at 11 am to discuss on the arising conflicting situation in the state, he said appealing all sections of the people to ensure present in the meeting and share opinion with regard to the challenges before the integrity of the state.
