Kangpokpi, June 04 2021:
The Asian Highway Land Affected Villages Chairman/Chief's Association (Gamgiphai-Taphou Kuki) condemned the latest notification of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway, dated May 28, 2021 and the subsequent notification of the DC Kangpokpi district, dated May 31, 2021, in connection with the acquisition of land for widening NH-2 stretch falling under the revenue jurisdiction of Kangpokpi district.
The association also submitted a written memorandum today to the DC (LA), Kangpokpi District signed by its chairman, Thangkholun Haokip and general secretary, Semson Kipgen.
It said, "With deep angst we put our straight objection over the latest notification of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway and the subsequent notification issued by the District Collector(LA) DC Kangpokpi as the way in which the notification was issued and how its procedure has been twisted clearly misleads the general public and such devious notification cannot be accepted by the association" .
It alleged that the whole process of land acquisition since its beginning was marred with discrepancies, skepticism, and misguided administration as it kept the rightful landowners and stakeholders completely in the dark during the whole process.
The AHLAVCCA also alleged that all notifications regarding land acquisition are carried out at the behest of Imphal West Secretariat which is against the rule of law and such notifications do not accommodate the survey undertaken by the staff of DC Kangpokpi for the sole purpose of acquiring land for expansion of NH-2 .
While conveying that the people of the District and the rightful landowners and stakeholders, in particular, will fight tooth and nail for their right, the association also cautioned that it will work relentlessly to seek justice.
