Reacting strongly against the Govt's indifferent attitude towards the demand of the people for the removal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act and punishment of the killers of Thangjam Manorama and pastor Jamkholet Khongsai, All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) Singjamei branch has today appealed to the students of all the colleges and schools falling under its jurisdiction to boycott classes indefinitely from September 3 onwards till the demands of the people are met.
Meanwhile, representatives of schools and colleges under the AMSU Singjamei branch along with AMSU Singjamei branch members in a meeting held today resolved to boycott all classes indefinitely from September 3 onwards.
The schools/colleges which participated in today's meeting were Ideal Girls College, Ch Iboyaima Higher Secondary School, Heirangoithong Girls High School, Mela Lampak High School, Hindi High School, Kyamgei Heibong-makhong High School, Chingamakha High School, Shamasakhi High School and Meitei Mayek High School.
Students of Panthoibi High School Bashikhong will also be boycotting classes for five days from September 3 onwards as a mark of protest against the prolonged imposition of AFSPA in the State.
As a part of the ongoing public agitation, students union of Liberal College Luwangshangbam has also appealed to all the students of the college to attend classes with black badges from September 3 onwards until and unless AFSPA was completely revoked from the State.
It also warned of taking stern actions against anyone found violating the diktats of the union.
