The itinerary of Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil who is scheduled to visit the State on September 5 to oversee the situation has been worked out.
Choc-a-bloc with meetings on the day of his arrival, the Union Home Minister is scheduled to touch down at the helipad at Kangla at 9.15 am of September 5 from Shillong on a MI-17 helicopter.
Ten officials of the Union Home Ministry including its Secretary Dhirendra Singh and 15 media persons will accompany the Minister.
Thereafter the Union Minister will call on Governor SS Sidhu at the Raj Bhawan where a meeting will be held at 10.30 am.
Straight after the meeting with the Governor, the Union Minister will meet the Chief Minister at 10.30 am and at 11 am he will meet top ranking Government officers of the State including Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh, Principal Secretary (Home) AE Ahmed and DGP AK Parashar, GOC 57 Mountain Division, DG Assam Rifles, Commander of Imphal Sector of Assam Rifles and local Commanders of the BSF and CRPF at 11 am.
At 12 noon the Union Minister will drive around the Kangla and meet Assam Rifles personnel, including awardees at the AR campus at Mantri Pukhri.
Chief Minister O Ibobi and his Council of Ministers will host a lunch at 1 pm.
The Home Minister will also meet former Chief Ministers Rishang Keishing, W Nipamacha, RK Dorendra, Radhabinod Koijam and RK Ranbir at 3 pm followed by a meeting with MLAs of the SPF at 3.30 pm.
Patil will also meet the Opposition MLAs at 4.30 pm and the three MPs at 5 pm.
At 5.30 pm a meeting with public leaders and delegations has been lined up to be followed by a press conference at the Raj Bhawan at 6 pm.
The Union Minister will leave Imphal for Shillong the next day at 9 am.
Meanwhile in view of the proposed visit of the Home Minister security posts have been put on red alert and instructions issued to intensify normal patrolling to prevent any untoward incident, according to press sources.
While the Chief Minister presided a high level security meeting attended by top civil and police officials the Chief Secretary also convened a similar meeting to assess the prevailing situation.
At the meeting presided by the CM and attended among others by the Chief Secretary and top officials detailed discussion covering wide ranging security measures were deliberated upon.
Proper instructions have been given to officials concerned for intensification of normal patrolling and conduct intensive frisking and checking at strategic locations, the source stated.
