Imphal, November 01 2020:
Independent candidate in Lilong AC Y Antas Khan has lambasted rival Independent candidate and ex-MLA Abdul Nasir for taking the people of Lilong for a ride.
Speaking at an election meeting held this afternoon at Khekman Zilla Keithel, Thoubal, Antas Khan said that it is time to teach the ex-MLA who had the audacity to use expletives against the masses a befitting lesson.
The by-polls scheduled on November 7 is an opportunity for Lilong AC to bring unity and development, he said and added that it is a perfect opportunity to teach befitting lessons to all those pseudo leaders who took the masses for a ride and humiliated the people of Lilong AC.
The sheer large crowd assembled today has testified that the people of Lilong AC, particularly Khekman would not let this opportunity go waste, Antas Khan remarked.
The by-election did not come on its own.
It was invited by some self-seeking men, said the Independent candidate.
Saying that Lilong AC has been shouldering a big role in the development of Manipur, Antas Khan appealed to the gathering to hand over the same responsibility to him.
"Even though I lost the State Assembly election held in 2017, I have been working for the welfare of Lilong AC and its people", he claimed.
He then questioned what the ex-MLA did for the people of Lilong AC when the people were facing severe difficulties on account of floods and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Everybody has seen how the ex-MLA abused the masses using expletives for questioning about PDS rice quota, Antas Khan said.
He then called upon all concerned to stop the practice of clan politics in Lilong AC and instead work with unity for rapid development of the Assembly segment.
Antas said that he would never betray people's trust in case he is elected to the State Assembly.
He appealed to all the voters to overcome both money power and muscle power and exercise their right to vote conscientiously and urged the gathering to follow the COVID-19 SOP strictly.
