'Save the pony' battle cry

Imphal, November 01 2020:
Social worker Oinam Romen today urged the public in general and pony owners in particular to take care of the indigenous pony with proper fodder and dwelling places.
He also mentioned that many ponies have not been fed properly by its owners and as a result, they have been swarming the streets looking for food.
Most of them consume the improperly disposed filthy garbage near the streets and as a result they fall ill and suffer many health consequences.
If such a situation continues, the number of ponies will dwindle slowly and stand at the risk of extinction, he added.
Considering all the issues, the Government should come up with a more effective conservation policy, he appealed.
