Imphal, September 30:
The second Anti-Retroviral (ARV) Treatment Centre in Manipur would soon be established at JN Hospital under the financial assistance of National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), informed Manipur AIDS Control Society sources.
Asserting that all requisite arrangements are in the final phase to open the Centre for prevention of mother to child transmission of the disease, the source informed that NACO is targeting 200 infected persons in the initial phase through constant supply of the ARV drugs.
The patients infected with HIV and requiring attention would be identified through intense examination of body immune control (CD4 count), said the source while elaborating that a healthy person should possess 500mm of CD4 count.
Priority would be given to sick persons having the least CD4 count of the said limit.
