Imphal, September 30:
Reacting strongly against frequent transfers and posting of doctors in Tamenglong district by the Government and recent death of a child in Tamenglong hospital due to lack of doctors, the Zeliangrong Youth Front, Assam, Manipur and Nagaland has demanded adequate compensation to the victim's mother and termination of service of the concerned doctors.
In a statement issued by ZYF (AMN) president Poujeng Kamei and Titus Kamei, chairman Nungba zone, the front came down heavily on the Government for effecting frequent transfers in heath service especially in Tamenglong district.
The release said that the health department effected transfer and posting of Manipur Health Services doctors on August 23 to be posted at various Tamenglong district health centres.
The Government again on September 17 effected another transfer and posting of doctors.
However, out of 11 doctors only two reported for duty as per the latest order.
Smelling some foul play in the whole episode, the front questioned why the doctors failed to comply the Government's order.
The treatment meted out to the people of the district as in case of the recent death of child during delivery at the hospital due to lack of gynaecologist, will not be accepted and tolerated by the front as it amounts to considering the people of the district to substandard human beings or second class citizens.
