The Liangmai Naga Council (LNC) has come up with details on damages caused by the recent flood and landslides in the Tamei Sub-Division of Tamenglong district and urged the Government to provide relief materials at the earliest.
Liangmai Naga Council president Azinbou Abonmai said that a total of ten suspension bridges over numerous streams and rivers had been washed away by flood water, two bailey bridges over the Barak River completely damaged and exactly 155 families' paddy fields ravaged beyond redemption.
The two major bridges over Barak River that had been washed away by the swift water current links Tamei with Katang and Tamenglong to Namtiram.
The suspension bridges connecting various villages that had been damaged by the recent floods are Rianglong to Njou, Nreng to Tapun, Dutlong to Kahmadung, Maguiluang to Npai, Nallong to Puilong which were built all over various sections of Barak river.
The others damaged bridge including suspension bridges are those lining Riamta to Chakha over Ngeki river, Dutluang to Nreng over Akang river, Kuilong to Nallong over Ahaki river, Kadi to Takou over Jaduki river and Rianglong to Nreng also over Jaduki river.
With regard to the paddy fields destroyed by the recent inundation, Riamta village lost 15 family paddy fields, Nallong-8, Maguiluang-30, Nreng-48, Rianglong-2, Konphung-42 while Liangchi village numbered 10.Azinbou also gave details of the landslides in the sub-division.
According to Azinbou Abonmai, the Imphal Tamei road via Kangpokpi 37 landslides occurred at various section along the road stretch.
Between Tamei and Tamenglong two major landslides occurred and from Tamei to Konphung the natural calamity took place 36 places whereas between Tamei and Kuilong 20 landslides caused destruction.
All are yet to be cleared.
A house at Dikiuram village under Tamei subdivision had been washed away by the Barak River, according to the survey reports of the Liangmai Naga Council headed by Azinbou Abonmai.
