There has been no abetment in the public demand for lifting of Armed Forces Special Powers Act and punishment guilty AR personnel involved in killing of Th Manorama in the custody of 19 AR even as the Working Committee of the 32 organizations spearheading the ongoing agitation has announced its decision of unrelentlessly intensifying the stir till the demands of the people are met.
In a statement, the Working Committee decried repressive measures being adopted by the Government to subdue the public movement and sideline the real issue and called upon the people to be aware of every move being made by the Government.
It also flayed State Unit CPI for trying to dilute the cause of the people and called upon the people to teach a fitting lesson for playing with the sentiments of the people.
Meanwhile, joining the public outcry against custodial killing of Manorama by 17 AR personnel, Nepali Sahitya Parishad Manipur demanded lifting of AFSPA from the State immediately.
The Parishad also demanded fitting punishment against the guilty AR personnel involved in the killing of Manorama in 17 AR custody.
