Imphal, January 25 2020:
DESAM and AIMS have urged the concerned authorities to regularise all key administrative posts of Manipur University.
Speaking to media persons at Kwakeithel Boys High School this afternoon, DESAM vice-president N Edison remarked that the existing administrative system of Manipur University is rather disappointing.
The way the university is administered these days is quite disorderly.
A few people have been running the university at their whims thereby severely vitiating the academic atmosphere, Edison.

Moreover, all the key posts such as Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Finance Officer, Examination Controller and engineers are being manned on in-charge basis.
As such, none of them are discharging their duties responsibly, he said.
Pointing out that interview for appointment of Registrar has been already conducted, Edison urged the concerned authorities to convene a meeting of the Manipur Executive Council at the earliest so as to complete the process of appointment of regular Registrar.
He further urged the authorities to make regular appointments to all key posts of the university.
DESAM and AIMS would not accept the induction of a State Government employee as the Finance Officer of Manipur University after violating all rules and regulations of the university, Edison said, He then alleged that the Administrator collected a huge amount of money from many people through the Finance Officer in the name of giving them jobs.
AIMS and DESAM have received several complaints about deducting big percentages while releasing liabilities of contractors.
Saying that AIMS and DESAM would investigate the matter, Edison demanded removal of the incumbent Finance Officer and to give the charge of Finance Officer to a officer of Manipur University until a regular Finance Officer is appointed.
AIMS vice-president S Premchand asked where is the report submitted by the independent enquiry committee set up in 2008 with retired acting Chief Justice T Nandakumar and Tezpur University retired VC MK Choudhury as chairman and member respectively.
AIMS and DESAM would consult experts both within Manipur University and outside before deciding on the next course of action with regard to the enquiry report, Premchand said.
He then urged all concerned to stop all attempts towards transforming MU campus into a 'market' .
He warned that different modes of agitation would be launched if their appeal to make regular appointment to all key posts of the university goes unheeded.
