BCC meet discusses Food Security Bill

A meeting of Saitu Block Congress Committee was held today at the CC Hall of Gamnom-Sapermaina where the National Food Security Bill was discussed at length.
Addressing the Congress workers and sympathisers who attended the meeting, IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip called upon party supporters to work collectively in order to further strengthen the party, particularly in hill districts ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
After block level meetings have been held for all the three blocks of Sadar Hills, a meeting of the district Congress committee would be organised for consolidating the party's strength and inform the mass about the UPA Government's flagship programmes including the National Food Security Bill.
Election of Congress party to power for three consecutive terms is a clear testimony that the party is popular and enjoy's people faith.
In response, the Government has successfully implemented a number of schemes/projects in accordance to popular wish and demands, claimed Ngamthang Haokip.
Congress would retain power both at the Centre and the State in the next terms too, he asserted.
Roads in and around Imphal and greater Imphal areas have now become comfortable thoroughfares after they were expanded recently and all the grudges against land acquisition for the same have died down.
Informing that the Government has been working to expand the airport road by diverting around Rs 300 crore from different departments, Ngamthang went on to claim that no other party would have the capacity to undertake development programmes with a long term vision as done by Congress party.
CAF&PD Minister M Okendro explained about the National Food Security Bill to the gathering.
Sadar Hills DCC president Thangkam Misao, Sadar Hills ADC Chairman Haokholal Hangsing and Saitu BCC president Ph Majarin were also present at the meeting.
