Man walks from CCpur to Imphal, cops help

A man who had grown quite weak and was literally starving after walking all the way from Churachandpur to Imphal has been handed over to Health Department by police.
74 year old Yumnam Shyam from Hojai, Koila Khul, Dol Pukhri Mamang in Assam was working under a Mizo contractor at Churachandpur.
As the contractor did not come to the work site, Shyam decided to go to the contractor's residence.
With Rs 750 in hand, Shyam set out from Churachandpur on foot on May 17 .
But he was robbed of all his money and some documents by some miscreants at Kwakta area.
He spent a night on the roadside at Bishnupur before reaching North AOC last evening.
Shyam approached the police personnel deployed there for help.
He told them that he was quite tired and he has not eaten anything for the last two days.
Imphal PS OC Inspector N Ingocha immediately took the man to RIMS and got him examined.
After Shyam was given necessary treatment, police offered him food.
Soon Shyam regained his strength before police handed him over to Health Department.
It has been decided to put Shyam in a quarantine centre, informed a police source.
Meanwhile, a man who has been staying in a rented house at Nagamapal Lai Ishingchaibi has been picked up by police and handed over to Health Department as he tried to evade quarantine and go home stealthily after he visited Jagiroad, Assam.
