Stranded Manipuris appeal to CM

New Delhi, May 19 2020:
A large group of Manipuri people currently residing in Delhi has sought help from Chief Minister N Biren and concerned authorities to address their grievances including payment of house rents in the wake of COVID-19 lockdown.
A public meeting presided over by Kh Dhanakumar Singh, Managing Director of Loktak Engineering & Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, was held in Mahipalpur playground, New Delhi on May 12.The meeting was attended by representatives from different places of Delhi to discuss the various problems faced by Manipuris living in the capital, especially students and non-Government employees.
During the meeting, it was brought forth that after the announcement to bring home stranded Manipuris was made, house owners have started demanding rents and refused to let them leave until payment has been made.
The stranded Manipuris have also registered on the 'Tengbang' website but no appropriate response was given.
They are also running low on essential commodities.
Pertaining to the above issues, the participants of the meeting have appealed to the State Government to make the necessary arrangements to take them home.
